Srinagar, May 25 (KNO) : While urging the government to immediately redress the genuine demands of J&K Patwar Association, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today said that the strike of patwaris has paralysed the working in revenue department.

The Government has been giving assurances and making promises with the patwaris that their genuine grievances would be redressed, but nothing has been done on the ground, forcing them to go on strike.

The demands of increase in the grade pay of graduate patwaris, timely departmental promotion of patwaris and girdawaris, which has reportedly not been conducted for the last four years, enhancement of allowances and rent for Patwar Khanas (Private Accommodation) till construction of Patwar Khanas are all genuine demands, which the Government must fulfil without any further delay. People who need revenue documents and other information related to land deals are suffering a lot due to the strike of patwaris.

The patwaris are on strike for their demands for the last two weeks. The Government must talk to the representatives of the Association and find an amicable solution to the issue without any further delay. As the summer has just begun and the working season has started, the strike has paralysed the working in revenue department putting common people to a lot of hardships.
